Exam Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit Criteria
The candidates applying for the Territorial Army Recruitment must be aged between 18 to 42 years.
Educational Qualification
- The candidates applying for the Territorial Army must possess a Graduation Degree in any stream from a recognized university.
- It is allowed to have a certificate from any field or degree other than that, no formal education is required.
Nationality
Candidate applying for the post must be an Indian Citizen
Physical Standards
- The candidates applying for the Territorial Army must be both Physically as well as Medically fit in all aspects.
- Candidates must serve physical and medical certifications to the authorities for further proceedings in order to qualify for fitness certification.
Employment Status
The candidates applying for the Territorial Army must be either self employed or Gainfully employed i.e should have a full time and paid a reliable job.
Note: Members currently serving in the Regular Army/ Navy/ Air Force/ Police/ GREF/ Para Military and other forces are not eligible.
Territorial Army Exam Selection Process
The selection for Territorial Army Recruitment is done through Written examination followed by an Interview for civilians whereas the ex-servicemen applying for the same are exempted from the written test and will only have to qualify the Interview in order to qualify for the recruitment. A Service Selection Board (SSB) and a Medical Examination is done before the preparation of the final merit list. Given below is the in detailed Officer Civilian Territorial Army Selection Process:
Step 1: Screening Stage (Written Exam and Interview Round)
Candidates who applied for the TA exam are invited to a screening. There are two sorts of exams in this category. The written exam will evaluate reasoning, elementary mathematics, general knowledge, and language retention. The interview round, which is conducted by the Preliminary Interview Board, is the second step (PIB)
Step 2: SSB Exam
The candidates who are selected after the screening round will have to appear for SSB Examination.
Step 3: Medical Test
Selected candidates will thereafter be subjected to a thorough health check up as well as a physical examination in accordance with Military Hospital's requirements.
Territorial Army Exam Pattern
The Written Test conducted for Civilians applying for the recruitment of Territorial Army consists of two papers and each paper has two sections in it. Paper I consists of Logical Reasoning, Elementary Maths whereas Paper II consists of General Knowledge and English Language. 50 questions worth 1 mark is asked from each section making it a total of 200 questions for 200 marks.

- Objective Type Questions will be asked in the exam.
- The level of difficulty for questions on Maths will be of Class 10th level while that of Reasoning, General Knowledge and English Language will be of Graduation Level.
- There shall be a negative marking of 0.33 mark assigned to the question.
- The qualifying marks shall be minimum 40% marks in each part of the paper separately and an overall average of 50%
Exam Pattern for Ex-Servicemen
The Ex-Servicemen will just have to undergo the interview round as a part of their selection process, all the other selection processes are just for the civilians.
